Clemons Seeking Sweet Run In Kentucky
“Indiana Native Looks To Finish What He Started In 2004”
SPARTA,
Kentucky (July 11, 2007) - - For ARCA RE/MAX Series
competitor Josh Clemons, the 2007 season was supposed to be
gravy. Unfortunately, things didn’t pan out and Clemons
has been forced to spend much of the season on the
sidelines.
A
return to Salem Speedway in April looked promising but the
lack of patience from another competitor on a restart dashed
away hopes for Clemons’ third top-10 ARCA finish.
Three
months later, Clemons is eased and ready to return to
racing. The track he picked is a good one, Kentucky
Speedway. A second home for Clemons if you will.
In
2004, Clemons driving his familiar No. 41 Ford was enjoying
the speedway race of his life. After starting a career best
fifth, the New Albany, Indiana native was giving his other
competitors a run for their money, but Clemons couldn’t
fight the mechanical gremlins as engine woes forced an early
exit for the upcoming driver.
Instead
of capturing what appeared to be an easy top-five, Clemons
left the track with a disappointing 28th place
finish. Clemons gave the 1.5-mile track another try in 2005.
While he wasn’t as competitive as he would have liked, the
second generation driver reeled in a 19th place
finish.
Two
years have past since his last tangle with the Sparta,
Kentucky track and Clemons is searching for the magic he had
in 2004 and hopes Friday night will be a race he won’t
soon forget.
“I
feel this place really owes me one,” offered Clemons. “I
love racing here. It’s one of my favorite tracks on the
schedule. The place is fast with multiple grooves which
provides for some great racing. The Clemons Racing team just
wishes for a little luck and we should be able to attract
the finish we deserved.”
Clemons
added, “As a driver, I’m frustrated. In 2004 we ran very
competitive. We had great cars last year and at Salem this
year we were awesome, but we can’t fight the monkey
that’s been on our back. My volunteer crew has worked
their butts off striving for us to win. The race is flooded
with a lot of money and experience. We have the desire to
run well, if we keep that in mind on Friday, nothing should
stand in our way.”
Clemons

fireworks of our own.”
