Joshua Allen
Clemons was born on March 13, 1976 at Floyd Memorial
Hospital to the parents of Larry & Rowena Clemons, New
Albany, Indiana.
Joshua, (known as Josh) at the age of 2
years old started watching anything that raced. Josh's
favorite was Evil Knievel, whose video he could not watch
enough. He loved the danger and the excitement.
At
the age of 5 years old Josh got his first Yard-Kart. Because
of too much speed and not enough experience it ended up in
the lake about 20 feet under.
After
the yard kart he advanced to a Z50 motor bike. He flew all
around 5 acres of land, including a lake which has a high
bank. The higher the bank, the more he loved it. Josh went
from jumping five gallon buckets to jumping the creek which
runs through the property. The more dangerous the better.
Then
he advanced on to an XR80, which looked
awfully
big for a little guy.
He really thought he was in heaven racing
around that lake and jumping every chance he got, not to
mention doing "bad wheelies" every 2 minutes. The
1/8 mile driveway was scarred with long black streaks. At
this time, Josh's parents realized Josh was not going to
quit the fast and dangerous speed of anything he gets on.
For
two years, he begged and pleaded for a motorcycle. His
parents were against the motorcycle racing so they decided
to get him into Go Kart Racing.
Elmer Davis,
being a former USAC -Sprint Car and ARCA Champion has
assisted Josh in the Go-Karting from the start. Josh's
parents went to Elmer's garage one night to talk to him
about the Go-Kart. Elmer and Larry put Josh in one of the Go
-Karts but his legs were too short so they blocked wood
pedals so he could reach them. So happens there was a race
at Corbin Kentucky that night, so off they all went to the
track. Josh, never being on a Go-Kart, took to the track
pretty well and finished 2nd in the feature. That
was just good enough to see for sure that Josh had a lot of
racing potential blood him.

Josh drove different divisions of Go-Karting, as many as 6
divisions a night, sometimes as many as 16 races a night.
Josh has raced in Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio & Tennessee.
Josh has set track records and won championships in Go-Karting. His
first Go-Kart sponsor was White Chassis, one of the largest
in the U.S. With their size, they could have selected any
Go-Kart driver in the country. This is where they build
racing Go-Kart Chassis.
At the age of
17, Josh started racing modifieds on dirt tracks. At age 18
he moved into the NASCAR Late Model Series and then to the
NASCAR All Pro Series at the age of 20. Josh has a strong
work ethic and he actively participates in his own car
set-ups and maintenance. Josh’s work related goals &
ethics bring him NASCAR Daily! He is a seasoned NASCAR
chassis builder and is sought after to build bodies for some
of his worthiest competitors in all divisions.
